Are You Becoming a Flat-minder?

A new epidemic at work could have hit you

Are you busy trying to do things faster, smarter and better? Would you go an extra mile to reach your goals? Are you constantly striving to raise your skill level to improve performance? Do you find yourself in situations where you are trying to recover from the past while worrying about the future? Do you often feel squeezed between your own needs and the demands of others?

If so, you risk becoming a flat-minder. In this state, you are totally locked in on survival and have little or no mental space left to play with ideas of better things to do, or dream-come-true futures to explore. Not because you want your mind to flatten, but because recurrent worries, unwanted distractions, and competing commitments clutter your mind and block your imagination.

The tricky and risky thing is we don’t notice the flattering of our mind. Little by little, small sacrifices backed by convincing arguments drag us away from the life we fantasized about and hoped to live one day. In stead we end up with tunnel vision, attention deficits, stress reactions, depression, burnout, and other symptoms of energy shortage and depletion.

Faster, smarter, better
