Bring Life to Work
Introducing the Lifework Paradigm
Conditions for life and work are changing rapidly and radically. It's hard to find words to describe and predict the development. How will the new reality influence the way we live and work? What happens when artificial intelligence, digitalization, and automation combine with green transition, diversity, and inclusion? How will the next generation meet not only their own needs, but also the demands of complex global challenges?
This is an open invitation to speculate and imagine. We need new words and concepts to bridge the past with the future — or to separate the two. In the following, I will present some of my thoughts related to the “Future of Work”. Please don't get too attracted or repelled by any word or concept I use. They act only as pointers. Hopefully, it will inspire you to find your own space and voice in all the new.
From work-life to lifework
What do you get by adding life to work? Lifework, which, in addition to being the work of life, could be defined as joyful, meaningful, and impactful activity. For most of us, the two extremes, work without life and life without work, would be undesirable, while a balanced and fulfilling lifework would be ideal.
