A rapidly changing world puts everything in motion and systems under attack. Also management. What worked yesterday is impossible today and obsolete tomorrow. The patterns are easy to spot. Less physical contact, more distributed knowledge and power, greater self-leadership, less need for management and control, more demand for facilitation and guidance.

Three transitions are the main drivers of change: the green transition with focus on sustainability, circularity, and regeneration. The digital transition with demands of new work routines and reskilling. The social transition with diversity, equity, and inclusion as main themes. All in all, it calls for human transformation and a new way of leading.

People leave the offices and their jobs in large numbers. Those who stay expect greater freedom, flexibility, and increased influence. The younger generations, who will soon make up most of the workforce, demand attentive and supportive leadership. They want love and understanding before commands and instruction.
